Getting Ready

 Getting Ready For Your Journey

Here is where we give you suggestions for what to bring and how to prepare yourself for an Inspirational Journey.  Our hikes are not strenuous–they offer the settings for some of the wellness skills training such as mindfulness, walking meditation, stillness, and body awareness.

What to Bring

For your total adventure both on the trails and at the resort, we recommend you bring:

  • Hiking and walking shoes, appropriate for desert/rock terrain
  • Hiking sandals for light walking (optional)
  • Layered clothing: t-shirts and long sleeve shirts, fleeces/vests for outerwear, shorts and long hiking pants
  • Backpack/knapsack to carry 1-2  water bottles, snack, hat, journal
  • Sunhat, sunscreen, sunglasses for outdoor protection
  • Flashlight for a possible sunset meditation/walk
  • Hand sanitizer or wet wipes to use on hiking trails
  • Bandana or small towel for hiking
  • Fitness clothes if you plan on using the fitness center at the resort
  • Swimsuit and sandals for the pool at the resort
  • Loose clothes for meditation and stretching
  • Causal clothing for dinner
  • Journal and writing tools
  • Walking stick or trek pole (optional)
  • Camera (optional)

Other Preparation

  • Depending on your program we will send you assessment materials to help start the process of developing your take-home wellness program.  These need to be filled in and returned by email, fax, or snailmail to us a week before the start of your program.
  • We may also send you some reading material that you might find helpful to prepare for your journey.  This is entirely optional.
  • We suggest that as much as possible you try to arrange for two to three days of a relatively relaxed schedule in your home and work lives.  This will help cut down on “decompression” time when you arrive so your learning and recreational process will be enhanced.
